Janoska Ensemble was established by the three brothers Ondrej, Roman and František Janoska, natives of Bratislava, with their brother-in-law Julius Darvas. They have created a completely new and original musical style, which music critics round the world have identified as the Janoska Style. Janoska Ensemble do not only play music but also create new compositions and arrangements, with spontaneity and improvisation always part of their performances. The ensemble record exclusively for the prestigious German record label Deutsche Grammophon and have a golden disc to their credit for their debut album Janoska Style. March 2019 saw the appearance of their second album Revolution, which is a tribute to the legendary British group The Beatles and was recorded at the famous Abbey Road Studios in London. Alongside classical virtuoso pieces, the album features arrangements of the best-known Beatles songs in the inimitable Janoska style. Janoska Ensemble see their new album as a tribute to the brilliant musicians from Liverpool who revolutionised 1960s pop with their music. That is precisely the Janoska Ensemble’s intention: “Just as the Beatles revolutionized pop music, we want, if you like, to revolutionize classical music. When we play classical music, we bring back the tradition of free improvisation that was taken for granted in Baroque times,” explains Julius Darvas. In addition to tracks of music by Mozart, Kreisler and Wieniawski, the Revolution album offers three of the Beatles’ greatest hits in their own unique interpretation, in the Janoska style. In particular, Yesterday in a harmonious symbiosis with Bach’s music will still be the secret hit of the album.

Janoska Ensemble partner world-famous artists, conductors and orchestras; they have performed at the most renowned world concert venues, giving more than 100 concerts yearly. Since their appearances in Slovakia are always red-letter days, it is a great honour for us that alongside concerts in USA, Asia, Australia and Europe billed for this summer, they will again appear at the Viva Musica! festival, where they will present their latest CD album in Slovak premiere.
